Hertford to Antwerp June 2007

My first ‘real’ cycle trip was a trip with my brother James and my good friend Ben. We’d been driving out to the Graspop music festival in Belgium for the previous two years and decided for the third one we’d cycle there instead. Although only being a journey of 3 days and covering about 250 miles, we had so many great experiences. Having cycled a lot in our local areas we’d already known how cycling can show you fantastic places and beautiful scenery that you perhaps would not see by other means of transport.

However, as well as seeing London by bicycle, the flat coastal towns in Belgium and also being able to cycle along many of the tranquil Belgium waterways, we got to experience and understand how cycling can bring you in contact with local people. After that trip all three of us became fascinated by cycle touring.
